FAQ

What is ADES?

ADES (Association for the Defense of SMS+ Service Providers) aims to develop and sustain the SMS+ activity in France. It represents all actors in the SMS+ ecosystem (publishers and aggregators) to telecommunications operators and professional associations such as AF2M.

ADES acts as a voice for these actors to reestablish two-way communication between aggregators, publishers, and operators (see question #2).

ADES’s goal is to ensure the long-term sustainability of the sector.

ADES was created in August 2025 to join AF2M and secure seats on committees responsible for drafting the SMS+ ethical charters, participating in their validation for implementation, and on committees tasked with evolving advertising rules. Joining AF2M without being able to participate in these committees would serve no purpose.

ADES also aims to provide tangible and factual input to the various actors in the sector. For example, ADES (through its founding member Allopass) implements mechanisms that facilitate dialogue between consumers and publishers. This allows precise quantification of complaints, helping determine whether changes to ethical rules are justified or merely arbitrary.

Membership is open to SMS+ service publishers and aggregators. Any individual or company involved in the SMS+ ecosystem and wishing to support the development and sustainability of the sector can join the association.

Joining ADES is much more than a simple membership: it means supporting and embracing the founders’ vision.

  • Strengthen ADES’s legitimacy: The higher the consolidated revenue of its members, the more representative ADES becomes of the market actors.

  • Coordinate actions: ADES has contracted with Maître Baillet-Bouin, who already supports members like Allopass on highly telecom-focused matters.

  • Support the association’s initiatives: Membership fees fund ADES’s activities. According to its statutes, ADES can act on behalf of its members to defend their interests, including in legal matters.

  • Influence the sector’s evolution: As a member, you can participate in the association’s work, propose initiatives, and help shape the standards and practices governing SMS+ activities.

Joining ADES is simple. Here are the steps to become a member:

  1. Fill out the contact form
Visit our contact form and use it to indicate your desire to become a member.

  2. Pay the annual membership fee
The minimum fee is €2,000 per year. You are free to contribute more if you wish to further support the association’s actions and projects.

  3. Confirmation and integration
Once your membership is approved during a General Assembly, you will receive an official confirmation and be integrated into the ADES member network. You will then have immediate access to member-exclusive services and be able to participate in the association’s initiatives.

The membership fee helps fund concrete actions to defend members’ interests and improve the overall quality of the SMS+ sector. Without the support of its members, ADES would not be able to carry out its missions of support, representation, and advocacy.

Membership in ADES is open to all players in the SMS+ ecosystem who wish to support the development and sustainability of the industry in France.

  • ADES facilitates communication with publishers and aggregators, enabling a better understanding of the sector’s needs and challenges.
  • The association helps secure the SMS+ activity by ensuring compliance with regulations and reducing the risk of consumer complaints.
  • It provides a structured and factual view of market practices, helping stakeholders make informed decisions regarding pricing and processes.
  • ADES advocates for the interests of publishers and aggregators with operators and professional associations such as AF2M, ensuring their voices are heard.

ADES aims to make the SMS+ sector stable, sustainable, and innovative in France. Its long-term vision is built around several key pillars:

  • Explaining the publishing professions to operators and clarifying any misunderstandings or misconceptions

  • Ensuring the long-term viability of the SMS+ activity, and even revitalizing it

  • Strengthening the legitimacy and representation of industry players
